NEW TO CBD?
Are you new to CBD and not sure where to start? Let us guide you and find the best products to suit your needs.
Tulsa, Oklahoma is about as close to being the crossroads of the United States as possible. Besides literally being just about in the center of the map, its history, culture and traditions are a mix of just about everything. From the strong Native American heritage to the oilman culture, it can be difficult to understand what it means to be Tulsan.
In everything from the food to the customs — even the accent — shows influences from the Southwest, South and Midwest. For example, Tulsa’s barbeque is known to be “between pig country and cow country,” in that it uses both ingredients prominently, and even the style of barbeque borrows a lot from other parts of the country.
Even as the area is physically at a crossroads, so is the economy. For decades, Tulsa was known as the “Oil Capital of the World.” But as oil production moved to other locations, such as in the oceans, the title seemed to slip away. Now, it is becoming the energy capital as not only does it deal with oil, but also natural gas and other sources of energy. Not ones to make the same mistake twice, they have diversified their economy so that, once again, it becomes an amalgam.
But speaking of oil, Tulsa seems to be becoming a center for a type of other than petroleum. Of course, we are talking about how CBD oil in Tulsa is growing by leaps and bounds, in addition to other CBD products.
So, as we delve into our focus on the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, we will be considering what CBD is, why is has become such a big deal in recent years and why the people of Tulsa seem to love it so much.
The Heathy People of Tulsa
In general, the state of Oklahoma does not have a good reputation when it comes to health, ranking in the top 10 of a lot of national statistics — and not the good ones.
Still, it is obvious that there is still an effort underway to turn things around, and Tulsa is at the front line of that effort. For example, in a bid to get residents to be more active, more and more protected biking lanes have been installed to give people the option to cycle while still feeling safe. Given the climate and how flat the entire state is, this is a great place to take a ride!
Also, the city is making great efforts to be more walkable — and with great results. In fact, Tulsa was recently voted the 34th most walkable city in the United States. This is no small accomplishment since the local culture favors city planning that almost requires having a vehicle.
Although not the healthiest city we have reviewed, we are thrilled to see that they are using their time and resources to change that. Seeing how quickly the use of CBD products is on the rise only serves to solidify that point.
CBD for Optimal Health
Cannabidiol (commonly called CBD) is a compound found in cannabis plants that makes up as much as 40% of their dry weight. Especially since we are talking about Oklahoma, we should probably explain the difference between CBD and marijuana since the latter is still very much illegal in the state, except for medical purposes, while CBD is perfectly legal as long as it contains less than .3% THC. After all, we are talking about a state that still has dry counties, so it makes sense that they are not jumping at the chance to legalize marijuana.
Hemp is now legal to be grown in all 50 states and so are the compounds that come from hemp. CBD is found in both marijuana and hemp, while THC — the compound that makes you feel high and is also illegal federally and in Oklahoma specifically — is only found in trace amounts in hemp. As such, when using hemp as a source of CBD, there is almost no risk of being contaminated with THC. While THC appears to have therapeutic value in its own right, that is a topic for another day.
The reason there is so much interest in CBD is that it works with your endocannabinoid system. This system is instrumental in the overall balance of other parts of your body, such as your immune and nervous systems. It does this by creating compounds that are remarkably similar to what is found in cannabis plants. As a result, it can have a substantial impact on the human body as a whole.
Since it has many of the benefits seen in marijuana without the classic marijuana high, CBD has been widely used and researched recently. In fact, if you search “CBD” plus just about any university, you will probably find that school doing research on a particular potential health benefit.
Of course, there are plenty of positive effects that would help just about anyone. But what are the effects of CBD that would be of particular interest in Tulsa?
Keeping Your Waistline in Check
Don’t feel bad — a lot of us are fighting the same battle. While many of us are not as svelte as we used to be, we still need to fight the good fight or else risk a whole list of potential problems.
Some good news is that there are studies that show CBD’s potential to assist with this fight as it has various properties related to weight control. The first way is helping restore balance to parts of the brain that are involved in appetite. If you are always hungry, you are bound to make bad decisions when offered some smoked bologna.
Second (and this is more of a side effect), it may be able to change the type of fat you already have in your body. Other studies have shown that CBD may be able to help your body change white fat into brown fat, a form that’s much more to you and can be easier to burn.
Help with the Stresses of Change
These are not easy times for anyone. Turn on the news or go online, and you see people screaming about one thing or another. Plus, as the city of Tulsa diversifies its economy, certain jobs that have been around for decades suddenly vanish. While it seems that new jobs seem to pop in their place, they may require experience and training that are not easy to come by.
If nothing else, CBD is famous as being one of the best things you can use to calm your nerves, giving you an overall feeling of relaxation and well-being. You may not be able to change what happens around you, but at least you can control how you react to it.

Health Challenges in Tulsa
Let’s not beat around the bush — Tulsa (and Oklahoma as a whole) has some significant health issues to address.
To start with, this state is ranked number one in the country for heart disease, number two for diabetes and number four for chronic liver disease. All three of these stats are linked to lifestyle choices, with a poor diet and lack of exercise as the main culprit.
There are various causes for this. For one thing, the local foods, while absolutely delicious, are not known for being particularly healthy. Another factor is that people tend to be very busy here and do not always have time to hit the gym.
Another important issue is chronic pain. If you are not feeling well, what are the chances that you will be motivated to jump on a treadmill for a half-hour? Just like the old expression, “you need money to make money,” you need to feel good before you can make yourself feel good.
That alone may be why you may want to consider using CBD oil. Since it is widely known to help with inflammation and pain throughout the body, it might be what you need to get you over the hump and into the gym.
Another sad statistic in Tulsa is with cancer, ranking number four in the county. The types of cancer are significant, as well as which types have the best recovery. For example, breast cancer, while the second most common type in the state, has a good recovery rate. However, lung and colorectal cancer levels are both high with high mortality rates.
While there is some evidence that CBD may play a role in killing cancer cells, those studies require much time before we can say anything definitively. However, CBD is definitely able to help alleviate the symptoms related to cancer itself or to the types of treatment you may be undergoing. As anyone who has been experiencing radiation or chemotherapy can tell you, even a brief reprieve from the pain and nausea can be a godsend.
How to Use CBD
So, maybe now you are thinking about getting on the CBD train, but how can you leave the station? What do you need and how do you use it?
The most basic way to use CBD is in the form of CBD oil. This is a very versatile option since, while you can take it directly, it is usually used in other products you may already have, such as a lotion or even smoothie. With different scents and flavors, the possibilities are endless!
If you want a ready-made product, there are multiple forms. For example, common forms of external products like CBD lotions, CBD creams, or CBD roll-ons. If you want something internal, there are CBD edibles (such as the famous CBD gummies or even pastries).
So, which is the form of CBD is best for you? Before you can answer that question, just consider why you are taking it and what you feel most comfortable with.
For example, let’s say you have been working on an oil rig all day and your feet are killing you. We would recommend using an external product, such as a cream.
On the other hand, perhaps you are having problems sleeping due to anxiety. Then it would probably be best to use an internal product, like a candy.
But before you get started, keep a few things in mind. First, take note of how CBD affects you personally before operating heavy machinery or driving a vehicle.
Second, remember that CBD affects everybody uniquely. If you do not feel that you are getting the results you expected, wait a little while or change the dosage. It might just be that your body has not had enough time or exposure to make any changes.
